Long Beach Township... "First In Nation"
...To Honor Exercise Tiger in 2005
Long Beach Township Diane Gove, Commissioner Robert Palmer, present to Exercise Tiger National Director Walt Domanski a resolution on Friday, April 1st, 2005. The proclamation sponsored by longtime Commissioner Robert Palmer is the first in the nation to honor "Tiger" by a government agency. Additionally, the Tiger Foundation presented awards to Long Beach Township recognizing them for their actions in sponsoring the resolution.

US Coast Guard Honors Tiger Vets With Wreath Laying on April 28th, 2005
On April 28th, 2005, USCG Station Barnegat Light carried out a 17 year tradition of laying a wreath to honor the men and memory of Exercise Tiger. A second wreath honored Ralph Gilbert a USCG Auxiliary member who passed away. The wreath laying will also honored ALL US forces serving in Iraq, Afghanistan and abroad.
Adopt A Serviceman Program 2003 a Governor's Mansion First

At the most recent "Adopt a Serviceman Program" held at the governor's mansion in Missouri six members of the United States Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines were recognized for military service in Iraq. SECNAV and Department of Defense sent representatives. US Congressmen Ike Skelton (D) and Congressman Kenny Hulshof (R) were key speakers. Army cadets from Washington University ROTC (St. Louis, MO) provided a ceremonial saber arch detail with US Navy Midshipman assisting. The event was hosted by the governor with first lady Laura Holden serving as hostess. Guests included several Missouri state legislators as well as other elected officials. Secretary of State Matt Blunt (R) presented Missouri flags to the servicemen and state representative Steve Hobbs (R) presented proclamations honoring their service in Iraq. Over 85 people attended this awards program, which also honored Virginia "Ginny" Gardner who was named state teacher of the year. Generals Shull, McCamy, Rayberg, also spoke at the evening's awards. National Director and USCGA District 5 Public Affairs Officer Walt Domanski served as master of ceremonies. New Missouri Chapter Director Don Daly was formally introduced. This marked the first time in Missouri history that a Awards Dinner of this type and magnitude was held at the Governor's Mansion.

US Coast Guard To Honor Tiger Vets With Wreath Laying on April 28th, 2007

This tribute and USCG Wreath laying marks the 19th year that the US Coast Guard has performed this honor in the Atlantic Ocean. This mission has always been done by a crew from Station Barnegat Light. Walter Domanski, National Director will be aboard the USCG Boat in the Atlantic with veterans, Tom Glynn, John Lewis and other VIPs.

A special wreath in maroon and orange will be laid to honor the 32 students and staff of Virginia Tech who were killed on April 16th.
